Gerrard is the Special Player: Dirk Kuyt

Dirk Kuyt is a former footballer for Liverpool. He has mentioned some of the names of footballers with whom he has played during his time. But he has stressed on one name who he finds to be the most special one for him during his entire career. He is lucky to have played many games together with him. Kuyt has been a bright player in his career of professional football for over a period of 20 years and has starred for many of the clubs that he liked such as Feyenoord, FC Utrecht, Liverpool, and Fenerbahce. Kuyt has made approximately 800 appearances.


Dirk Kuyt has been lucky enough to play alongside some of the legendary footballers like Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, Rafael Van Der Vaart, Robin van Persie, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Luis Suarez, and Steven Gerrard during the time of his career.  And now the Dutchman has mentioned the legend player from Liverpool who has also been the captain, Steven Gerrard, as the special player alongside whom he had the pleasure to pleasure.

LIVERPOOL INTERESTED IN REAL MADRID STAR

Liverpool have emerged as a potential destination for Colombia ace James Rodriguez. The Real Madrid man is keen on leaving the club this summer with a number of clubs reportedly interested in his services.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is said to be pushing for the transfer as James remains a quality player. The 27-year-old has been told by manager Zinedine Zidane that he is surplus to requirements and can leave in the summer.

KUYT SPEAKS ON LIFE AFTER FOOTBALL

The Echo caught with former Liverpool maestro Dirk Kuyt for a quick interview, discussing life after retirement, what he thinks about Liverpool’s chances this season and about his Foundation charity.

Dirk Kuyt made the switch to the red half of Merseyside from boyhood club Feyenoord in 2006. The winger spent 7 seasons at Liverpool between 2006 and 2012, making a total of 208 appearances and scoring 51 goals.

Liverpool needs to rediscover attacking football

Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt believes that Liverpool needs to rediscover the attacking football that makes them so strong last season. He said that although Liverpool is close to the leaders in the table they are struggling in Europe this season. He believes that they will not go far in the Champions League unless they rediscover their attacking football.

Dirk Kuyt said that Liverpool has the best front three in Europe last season and that they have struggled to replicate the same sort of form this season. In contrast, he said that they have improved defensively as they are now conceding fewer goals.

Dirk Kuyt backs Dejan Lovren to have a great season

Former Liverpool favourite Dirk Kuyt has backed Dejan Lovren to have a strong season with Jurgen Klopp’s side. The Croatia international has often been highlighted as the weakness in the Reds defence but Kuyt believes the centre-back can things around after enjoying a great summer with Croatia.

“Lovren is a great guy. I am big Liverpool fan, follower on social, and I saw Dejan joined the team. He will have a great season and I believe Liverpool can fight Man City for the title this season. I enjoyed watching Croatia at the World Cup and how passionate they fought, not giving up for one second. They deserved a little more, but France are a terrific team and reaching the final is, in itself, amazing,” he was quoted as saying by Goal.com.
