Former Liverpool and Fenerbahce attacker Dirk Kuyt believes that Euro 2020 played a major part in Steven Berghuis’ decision to sign for Ajax Amsterdam. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Berghuis has signed for Champions League campaigners.


Berghuis was the Feyenoord skipper before he signed for fellow Dutch Eredivisie club Ajax Amsterdam. Ajax paid €5.5m to secure the signing of Berghuis. Dirk Kuyt is disappointed that Berghuis opted to sign for Ajax. Dutchman Berghuis is currently on holiday after his involvement with the Dutch national team at the Euro 2020 tournament.

Dirk Kuyt talked about Steven Berghuisand the Dutch national team in a chat with De Telegraaf. According to him, Frank De Boer should take some blame for the transfer of Feyenoord skipper to Arsenal.

Kuyt believes that De Boer Should embrace the blame after the ex-Crystal Palace manager decided to play 3-5-2 at Euro 2020 and ahead of 4-3-3.

Berghuiscould have been the Denzel Dumfries of the Euro 2020 tournament according to Dirk Kuyt. Kuyt believes in the ability of Dutch attacker Berghuis and he would almost certainly flourish if Frank De Boer had picked the 4-3-3 formation.

Dirk Kuyt stated that Berghuis was in great shape ahead of the Euro 2020 tournament. Berghuis would have potentially seize the chance to be a part of the three Dutch attackers but Frank didn’t use the 4-3-3 formation.Kuyt is surprised that a quality player like Berghuisleft Feyenoord to join Ajax Amsterdam. According to him, Berghuiscould have easily move to clubs outside the Dutch Eredivisie.

Kuyt believes that Steven Berghuis is the best player on the right wing in the whole of the Dutch Eredivisie.Hewas affected by the change in formation from Frank De Boer who was recently sacked as the Netherlands national team.
