J.S PARK BELIEVES MINAMINO WOULD SUCCEED

Takumi Minamino is expected to make the mark and be a success with Liverpool according to former Manchester United player Park Ji Sung. The former United midfielder expects the Japan international to adapt to English topflight. He stated that he will need time to adapt to the pace of the league.

Park also stated his pleasure with Asia footballers making the move to major clubs around Europe. Minamino is the first Japanese to represent Liverpool, a move that is welcomed by another Asia export to the English topflight.

Minamino joined Liverpool on January 1, 2020 and was handed the number 18 Jersey – the same jersey number recently worn by Alberto Moreno and Liverpool cult hero Dirk Kuyt. Jurgen Klopp said he expects the Japan international to put in work just like Kuyt was renowned for during his stint with the club.

Prior to joining Liverpool, Minamino has faced Liverpool twice this season with Salzburg in the ChampionsLeague group stage. He was among the goals as he helped his side from 3 goals down to draw 3-3 before Mohammed Salah netted the winner, in 4-3 Anfield classic.

He was also against his future employer when he played the whole 90 minutes, where Liverpool secured their round of 16 tickets, the Reds won 2-0 at Red Bull Arena. He admitted after he was unveiled in January that he did learn one or two things from Liverpool while he was lining up against them. He brought an end to his five years association with Salzburg, he made 199 appearances scoring 64 goals in the process.

Minamino has since gone on to make his debut with the club, playing in the FA cup win over cross neighbour rival, Everton. He made his Premier league debut against Wolves coming on as a substitute for Sadio Mane.
