There has been so much noise about the likelihood that Arsenal playmaker MesutOzil would exit the side this summer.
The German star does not lack admirers but how many sides are really open to receiving him, after meeting his release clause and contractual obligations, and using him to his true potential?
Arsenal pays the former Real Madrid star £140,000 per week. That contract is in its final year before the player would have to commit to another club or accept the Gunners’ offer. This scenario is a regular one for the North London outfit.
Former stars Samir Nasriand Robin van Persie were also in this same situation few years back. Both players were highly sought after in the transfer market and their deals were in its final 12 months. Clubs were falling over themselves for the players and with Arsenal not keen on losing out on both sides; the club had to sell them in 2011 and 2012 to Manchester City and Manchester United respectively. Former Liverpool and Netherlands midfielder Dirk Kuyt have reacted to been labeled a “scouse b*****d” by Manchester United fans after his team lost to Manchester United in their Europa League group stage fixture.
The match between both teams in the Europa League group stage saw Feyenoord edging Manchester United in Rotterdam while Manchester United deservedly won the second leg all thanks to a 4-0 thrashing of Feyenoord at old Trafford.
In an interview in which Kuyt who played for Liverpool from 2006-2012 granted the press, the Dutchman explained that although going four goals down wasn’t a pleasant experience; he enjoyed being picked on by the Manchester United faithfuls.
He further added that while a whole stadium turning against you isn’t much fun, the reason that triggered their trolling and jibe made him enjoyed it anyway. Dirk Kuyt believes that German manager,Jurgen Klopp is the man to bring success back to Liverpool. He stated that Klopp has achieved great success with his previous clubs and hopefully he will be able to accomplish the same thing in England with Liverpool.
Dirk Kuyt said that so far Klopp has already managed some interesting wins. He was referring to the way Liverpool demolished Manchester City and believed that the new manager should be given more time to build his team. He also backed the England side in the Europa league and that they have a good chance to win the trophy in Klopp’s first season.
In a recent interview, he has been speaking about his time at the club, the atmosphere at Anfield and during the big games. He recognizes that things have changed a lot ever since he left the club with very few players and staff members remaining on the team.
He stated that he still follows the team performance on television whenever he has time. He believes that Klopp is a really charismatic manager that helps to bond the players with the club. If there is someone that can bring success to Liverpool, he stated that it was Jurgen Klopp.
Dirk Kuyt signed for Liverpool in 2006 from Feyenoord and will become a success in England. He was also a favorite player with the Anfield supporters. He managed to make 285 appearances for Liverpool and scored more than 60 goals in the process. (more…)
Fenerbahce kept their good run of form going after two goals from former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt helped them register a 3-0 win overKasimpasa. This was the fourth consecutive victory for the Turkish outfit in all competitions.
It helps them keep their position at the top of the table ahead of Besiktas and Galatasaray, who are both just one point behind Fenerbahce. The Turkish club, though, could lose one they are important players –Kuyt – after it emerged that AC Milan have made him their number one transfer target in January.
At 34 years of age, it is believed thatKuyt is looking for a return to Dutch football. He has been at Fenerbahce since 2012 and it did not take long for him to become a fan favourite with his unselfish workhorse nature. (more…)
